“PLANT A TREE, SAVE THE EARTH”
Not minding the heat of the sun at 1:00pm of July 8, 2009, forty three (43) employees of Ibiden Philippines (IPI) graced by the presence of the respectable SVP of Ibiden ,Japan Mr. Mafumi Kunishima,, gathered together for the purpose of planting fifty (50) flower-bearing trees such as pink adelfa and yellow bell around the perimeter fence of IPI. The activity was lead by the top management of IPI, represented by its President and CEO, Mr.Katsumi Mabuchi, VP-Administration Mr. Masayuki Saito, VP-Manufacturing Mr.Takakazu Ishikawa, Directors/ Messrs.Yoshiharu Kibe and Eiji Kanamori.
Pink adelfa and yellow bell are flower-bearing plants (tree) that in a matter of one to two years, would grow into a full blown crown , with the height as tall as the golden shower tree. These plants will provide shade , cool breeze, and would altogether absorb an estimated 2,400 pounds a year of carbon dioxide. A short programme was held but with the high spirit of everyone, nobody would like to give long speeches as obviously everyone cannot wait till the hands get soiled and call each tree his own. This kind of activity is one that we do not have the chance to do everyday, specially us office people. With this opportunity, the employees who volunteered savored the moment of being away from routine jobs! It was fun.
This is not the first and definitely will not be the last. We still have the year-long stretch of chances to do tree-planting again around the green area of IPI. ESH (Environment, Safety & Health) and CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) teams of IPI will unceasingly join hands towards making this earth as green as it used to be.
Remember these faces, plus more new faces to join us in planting trees, and saving the earth!
